When the whole church is down on their knees praying life over baby Jonathan, when all hopes were lost, I am seeing an unshakeable faith of a young couple, the husband a Hindu convert and the wife a Christian by birth. The couple, given away all hope and preparing themselves to be strong for the funeral of their son.
This very blog, my very first, is getting started off on a painful note and I feel this is something God has convicted me to write. This also, is an answer to my personal prayer to God to strengthen me and enable me to start my journey as a blogger, vlogger and podcaster for the kingdom. But I never expected it to start this way… seriously!
The journey of this couple, with their son Jonathan, has rather been incredibly tough, testing their faith to the brink of giving up and even questioning it. But I’ve not seen their faith shaken even by a bit and almost no display of their internal, incredibly painful emotions.
In every step of their way, I have only seen their strength grow and their immovable trust on the Lord Jesus Christ, in display. Their complete surrender and dependence on His provision. Even after receiving the news today, that one of their son’s lungs have stopped functioning, oxygen dropping below 75% and with the next approximately 18 hours left to know if their son is going to make it or rest in the Lord. These were the exact words from the father – “We trust in the Lord and have prayed over Jonathan and submitted him to God. We have requested a miracle if it is His Will“

I’ve been reading through the scriptures, the book of 1 Samuel. All this situation reminds me of Eli, when he receives the message from Samuel regarding his sons, that both will be killed the same day. But Eli replies – “It is the LORD; let him do what seems good to him (1 Samuel 3:18 NRSV)”. Although the context is quite different, where Eli’s sons are wicked. But the news on his sons’ death, though quite devastating, Eli submits to the LORD’s will.
I’ve not seen a stronger faith and trust in display… ever! Which this young couple have showed and still showing, to an extent that they have mentally prepared for their son Jonathan’s funeral, yet haven’t given up on their faith in the Lord.
Probably this very blog is a witness of their faith.
I, in this moment have only one thing going on in my mind. No matter how shaken I am. God is able and if it is His Will, Jonathan will make it and a Miracle is in the making! I’m reminded of this quote from the Bible –
For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5 NKJV)
I’ll rest in this promise from the Lord our Savior Jesus Christ. Until tomorrow expectant for a Miracle!
